I’m a sucker for Soviet Mordernist Architecture (beautifully portrayed in Frederic Chaubin’s book) . Very similar to the American Brutalism but a helluva lot kookier in my mind. How about you Oppo?

like it.
I still like brutalism. It’s the architecture of my dystopian future dreams.

Art deco, and then Brutalism. New York and London are my favorite architectural cities.

I have a curious fascination with so-ugly-it’s-beautiful brutalism, especially in the context of the idealism and (often-misplaced) forward thinking that went along with them. I consider the clean lines and geometric forms of the International Style and Art Deco to be incredibly beautiful as well.
I very much admire the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, too. My own home, while not a Wright house (if only it were!), was designed by an architect for his own family, and it is obvious that he was a follower of Wright’s Usonian concepts. It’s small, square and flat-roofed, with beautiful natural materials (the living room is panelled in redwood!), big windows (for a 1940s house), and a layout that makes excellent use of space, and integrates well with the landscape. Unfortunately, the garage is only a single very narrow bay, with no room to expand, but aside from that, I love it, and count myself very lucky to have a house that, while not from the pen of a big name such as Wright, is architecturally distinctive.

Number one for me has to be Art Deco, though I like most of what was going on in the 1930is-1960ish period - postwar mid-century, prewar Spanish revival, etc.

I’m a big fan of Gothic Revival. See the Canadian Parliament buildings as an example.

I have a really odd fascination with old churches.
I’m not even a religious person, but there’s something sort of haunting and oddly beautiful about an old house of god. Bonus points if the church in question is made out of brick.
Something like that, it just seems interesting to me. It doesn't even have to have a specific period, if it looks old and worn down, I'll be fascinated by it.

Mid-century modern, anything by Wright, an original Victorian house can be cool. All sorts, really. But I love Fallingwater. Wright is da man.

I love me some Brutalism (generally later stuff, early Brutalist stuff seems a bit cluttered to me). I’m currently sad because this guy is currently having its facade ripped off and replaced by boring mirrored glass:
Some other favorites:
(I may be the only person on Earth who like the J Edgar Hoover Building)

I’m quite partial to Harry Metcalfe’s house with the stonework and Ivy growing up the side:
At my college most buildings were brutalist, and I would aimlessly walk around, through, inside the nicer buildings on campus just to escape the depression encapsulated in cinderblock. I literally compared the buildings I had all my classes in to broken-down mental institutions: puke-colored lighting and broken tile.

I’ve only been by it once, on a business trip to Syracuse a few years ago when I was living in Albany, but I’ve always been fascinated by it. Has to be, hands down, one of the best Deco office buildings anywhere, and that includes NYC. The lightening goddess sculpture on the front is incredible.

Its a really, really neat looking building. My mom used to work down the road from it, so I would see it everytime I went to her office.

The Metlife North Building actually was supposed to be the base of a 100 stroy tower before the Depression messed things up:
The Hearst Tower was similarly unfinished until they gutted it and built a modern tower on top of it a decade ago.

Aside from the Chrysler Building, my favorite Art Deco building in NYC is the McGraw-Hill Building:
It’s a bit out of the way tucked in behind the Port Authority Bus Terminal in the middle of a block, but that green is incredibly distinctive.

I really like Frank Lloyd Wright’s try at applying the his flavor of the Prairie Style to a vertical building:

Brutal ism is neat when it has some something to contrast like in your photo above with the jungle.
I like Georgian/colonial

It’s interesting since the prairie school is all about the horizontal, it’s an oddity amongst his works
I saw the original scale model of this building at MOMA in NYC! It’s all hand cut and painted wood, and must’ve required a ton of time to complete,

Yep. And then of course there’s this, which would have been a whole other thing altogether for him (though still having prominent horizontals when you look closely).

Wow, never seen that, didn’t know he did tall buildings. Looks like it could easily stand in for a 22nd-century lab in some sci-fi movie.
